So my God brother just died...7 deaths in less than a year...but I guess it's better he's dead instead of having to live with a brain tumor

'ello all,
Back from western..mixed feelings about that.  I looooooooooooved being surrounded by so many ppl that have a passion for band.  They were serious about what we did for the most part and I met a few new friends.  Evan, David and Joe were the main ones I stuck with.  Joe's the other drum major (got to know him a lot better, found out he does talk and a very cool person) who shared a room with Dave (thought he was a smidge off his rocker when Joe and I first met him but he's not so bad, very silly w/ Evan) who's drum major partner is Evan who was in my group.  As I said, Evan and David were very goofy together, and oddly enough they're kinda like Joe and I.  Didn't really talk before the camp but it seemed like they'd been friends for a while.  Well, being around them all the time made me feel very short lol  The ppl at the camps took pictures throughout the time we were there and times we were conducting...well...the times I stood on a chair to see the board and such I looked fine..about their height lol Buuuuuuut when I was off the chair...there was a large dip   Oh well, they were all really nice.  'Course I'll be seeing Joe in 4 days lol.  The main thing I liked was everyone was so respectful to everyone else..it's like it was another world where ppl actually had manners 98% of the time.  Our group was decent; there was 11 ppl (Chris, Evan, Julia, Jamie, Amber, Daniel, Jacob, Catie, Beth, Me and Maggie)  Catie was...well I just don't seem to have a thing w/ Caties but I always get away from them   Jacob was very smart, he was the reason we almost won our egg drop thing...stupid little crack   Maggie was the leader who knows fred so that made her cool   She wasn't quite as...I dunno how to put it.."active" with the group as the other leaders were.  There were a lot of interesting ppl there lol.  Well groups I may say  Girl Scouts gone wild (very cute considering there were a few guys there that enjoyed the name the most) The Quack pack (quacked at random times and duck marched counts and all lol) Those were the main ones I remembered cuz they were the ones that seemed to have the most fun together.  It rained soooooo much while we were there.  Poor Joe and David got caught in a huge down pour...they looked a bit cold lol.  David let Evan feel how cold it was when he rang his shirt out over him while he was laying down.  We learned a few new things with conducting and improved what we already knew a lot.  I'm a lot more confident now as drum major and I know that Joe and I will improve with our "skills" as the band improves with theirs.  I can ALMOST allllllllllllllllllmost get conducting 4 vs 3.  It just looks so weird I get thrown off.  Annnnnnd I can conduct one had 4/4 then the other 4/4 but starts a beat later.  Sadly I can say the alphabet backwards...even while conduction lol (zyxwvutsrqponmlkjihgfedcba) Something he taught us to throw us off..did a very good job lol. Hmm..the Harold dorms...dear God...they suck   Joe and Daves room was so hot for them they started to sweat the minute they walked through the door, mine wasn't so bad..not sure if it's cuz I didn't have another person in there or just cuz it wasn't so bad lol. I think that's pretty much all of it....oooh ooooh!!! I got 2 new shirts one for the camp..a tournament of champions one cuz I got rainned on and I was cold so it was something dry to have..and a western hoodie..just cuz lol so now I can show off fred and kim's school lol.  The campus was really beautiful, I loved the mountains especially when the sun started setting and fog started rolling over the hills *sigh* so pretty.  Hopefully the other dorms aren't so bad   It's just too far of a drive to make for me, I get distracted easily and suck with directions so that wouldn't work too well lol.  Anywho, I think this is one of my longest posts that I have actually written so I'll go. ahhh!! dang it...I got work today Alex doesn't work there anymore So hopefully either Julio's working night for the next few days or Mrs. D's back. annnnnnd got senior pictures back some turned out pretty good, others I looked very high lol bad timing with blinking okay, now I'm going I swear! Take care all

You know you're spanish if..
Current mood: content

You put your clean pots in the oven for storage

Your mother keeps a can full of recycled cooking oil on or near the stove

Your relatives take photos and videos at a wake.

You have to say "bendicion" to your grandmother / mother / aunts when you come in and before you leave

Your grandma's couch is covered in plastic even though it's older than you

You call all cereal "con flay"

You call any sneaker "tenis"

You can't leave a party without taking home a plate of food

Your grandma makes you put on slippers because walking around barefooted will make you get sick

You need that piece of cake before you leave the party

You found out about a Saturday party on Wednesday

"La Correa" or "La Chancla" were used to discipline you

You have those huge wooden spoons on the wall

The biggest pot in the house is burned from all the rice cooked in it

You blast the music at 8am to clean the house on a Saturday

The whole family gathers around and stands still in front of the video camera at a wedding, baptism, or birthday party and just smiles like its a regular camera.

You set up a "hamaca" whenever your family goes to the park

You are older than one of your uncles or aunts

Your Mom has two sets of dishes and bed sheets: One for everyday use and the other for "cuando llege visita

Your mother keeps the rice in a big green soda-cracker can and instead of a scoop inside , it`s a tea cup with a broken handle

You go to a birthday party and your friends that couldn't go are asking you to bring them back some food

Your mom / tia / abuelita has a ceramic elephant on the living room table

Your favorite dish is pegao

You have an aunt who sells pasteles on the side

It could be 100 degrees outside and your mom is cooking pernil inside in the oven.

You're proud to be Spanish - and you pass these jokes on to all your Spanish friends!
